We had to watch two videos. The left and middle pictures are from the first video, and the right picture is from the second video. We had to draw what we saw in the videos. It was easier to draw in one point perspective because we had to draw along with the people making the drawings. Drawing certain lines and then erasing them helped make the shapes look better.

Reference PhotosCompositional SketchesMy still life consists of my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, Nintendo Switch carrying case, Beats Headphones, Morgana the Cat Nendoroid, Pig vessel sculpture, and my T-shirt. In ProgressFinal Still Life Drawing1. I think it looks okay. It isn't very neat, and I trouble transitioning between different light levels, but I think they different levels of light are at least defined well.
2. My values are not very realistic, but I tried to include as many changes as I could. I had to account for my controller, case, shirt, and a little bit of my wall and dresser. Values matter because they show a clear light source and can make the drawing look better. 3. I'm pretty sure the light source was my room light, which is one the celling. 4. The compositional sketches helped my realize which drawing was best for this assignment. I was able to show a certain perspective and have some kind of light source. The compositional sketches helped with various perspectives and angles. 5. I think I succeeded in drawing more proportional objects and at least somewhat defining where light shines more. 6. I think the perspective of the picture and the proportions are mostly accurate. I also believe structure of what was visible is fairly precise. 7. I think the arrangement is fairly pleasing. I took the picture intending to focus mostly on the controller, while have other parts of the still life were still visible. I think I could've put the headphones closer to the carrying case in order for it to be included in the final drawing. 8. I intended for the center of interest to be the controller. I think it worked fine, but I think I should've taken the picture a bit farther away so that more parts of the still life would be visible. This could've prevented the controller from taken up too much room, but still be the center of interest. 9. I think I could've spent more time working on this every day. I have a hard time focusing on work sometimes, and I think that I could do a better job of trying to pay attention to what I was doing. 10. My main challenges were time constraints, occasional lack of focus, and difficulty shading. I tried my best to work on parts of it when I could, and I tried to focus on the picture more so that I could make the shading look a little more accurate, even though I had trouble making smooth transitions while doing so. 11. I've learned that drawing something realistically can be difficult, especially when it comes to minor details. If you want to make a drawing as realistic as possible, every detail matters. Some of those details can be very time consuming to draw. For this assignment, we had use our paper viewfinders and take pictures of a fabric. We then had to draw what we say on three sheets of paper, all different colors. We also had to use different mediums for each one. I used a graphite pencil, a white Prismacolor pencil, and a black charcoal pencil. I don't think they are as good looking as the example drawings that were posted on Google Classroom. It was hard to get the proportions and I still have a hard time shading properly.
This is another assignment focusing on value. We had to make a value chart and a sphere using a white Prismacolor pencil, and make another chart and sphere using a white charcoal pencil. Then we had to draw a ribbon with two loops in it, and include a shadow. I found it a bit difficult to draw the spheres and give them proper lighting, but it's still good practice. I think it's good to practice drawing with different drawing utensils.
This time we had to draw our shoe and backpack. Like the previous assignment, we had to do this in pen, without lifting it. Unfortunately, it wasn't as neat as the example drawings posted in Google Classroom. I still think this is good practice. It can help to have some restrictions when drawing, because it helps us observe the objects better and be more careful when drawing the details.
For this assignment, we had to draw some pictures or our hands. The top three were done without looking at the paper at all, but for the bottom three we were allowed to look back a few times. All six pictures required us to keep our pen on the paper at all times, we were not allowed to lift it. There was definitely an improvement after we could look at the paper. I think this was an interesting assignment. I didn't expect to draw them well without looking, but the bottom three pictures show how important vision and focus are when drawing.
